Chucho - Railfanning exists in many forms

I'm disturbed how you don't see how viewing satellite images, such as that of the Brooklyn Roundhouse, is railfanning. And your comment "it can't be that hard to just go down to the yard and *look*. I live in Nevada, I don't have the ability to beam myself to southeast Portland or other railroad point-of-interest to see what's there in real-time. I utilize online photographs, videos, satellite imagery, railroad radio links and discussion boards to "visit these places" that I can't feasibly get to. For me to go to Portland to see whats parked outside the Brooklyn Roundhouse with my own two eyes(view from a distance from a public street since I am not an active member of the restoration crew) would involve perhaps $500 in airfare, rental car, food plus take a vacation day from work. In addition, I'm sure there are many railfans that are physically disabled who cannot easily get around to visit these places either and utilize these technological methods to participate in this great hobby. Chucho, step outside the smokebox!
