Jim, this is now the official website for
the Portland Brooklyn Yard "Amtrak Locomotive Preservation" effort.

You are correct that was quite a legendary effort that was
pulled off by young Chris Fussell when he saved the
former Amtrak F40PHR231.
ALL of the planets REALLY lined up for this project indeed.
Here is an OLD posting from Trainorders dot com in 2002
announcing the securing of funding for the purchase of
the F40PHR231.
This shows that Dreams REALLY CAN COME TRUE if you play your cards right:
