It is an urban myth that railroads are going to charge photographers who take pictures of their trains and then publish or sell them. There is substantial precedent in copyright law covering both "artistic" use and "plain sight". The original version of this myth is a farmer who comes upon an artist painting a picture of the farmer's barn and demands royalities. Never happened and no basis in law. Click away fellas but stay off private property.
