For several months now, UP track crews have been replacing ties and spreading ballast between Sparks and Truckee. I observed a train of Herzog ballast hoppers in the Sparks Yard and a tie gang working between Sparks and the Reno Trench within the last two weeks.

Today I was at Boca Reservoir and there is an informational warning sign posted saying that the railroad crossing on the access road between I-80 and Boca & Stampede Reservoirs will be closed October 27 through 31. Next to the crossing is a section of panel track, assuming track crews will be replacing crossing rails of one of the two mains at this crossing. That's all folks!
