Maybe I'm missing something in the physics. If there's a certified locomotive engineer here, I'm hoping he can answer the question. How would a diesel in dynamics create a slack action issue. I would think that it would mostly simulate a heavy load ahead of the passenger cars. Obviously, the highest drawbar pull would be in the couplers between the locomotive tender and the diesel, with significantly less behind the diesel. But beyond that, what effect would it have?
