It was identified in the CORP's/RailAmerica response to the shippers "Alternative Rail Service Application" that due to late payments on other properties purchased by Permian Basin Railways from RailAmerica, CORP did not want to be their banker and accept late payments for their proposed use on CORP's tracks. That is a big financial problem.

The other financial problems on the Yreka Western include the foreclosure on their 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Engine and the Depot Building in Yreka.
