I'll tell you what, just send the nearly 30 billion dollars that CA has "donated" to rural states, on our Federal gas tax over the last 20 years, back to California, and I'll finish the LAUPT run-through project in time for the 2028 Olympics, without any need to "kow-tow" to the Great Cheeto, or to Vulcan's Secretary of Transportation?
I'm not exactly known for my love of contractor or political waste fraud and abuse, which has become the norm, regardless of the party or ideology purportedly promoted by the particular "brand" of thieves.
There is plenty of corruption, and worse there is a national "culture of corruption" fueled by vast amounts of hidden special interest money in politics, that seems to have taken hold. Ith seems to affect both blue and red states, with similar stories of waste and corruption. Big projects just naturally have more to steal, that's all.
The new tunnels are needed, we do spend too much for these things, and we have political leaders in both parties that seem more interested in grift or graft to fuel their own self serving political power, than in providing any kind of honest effective "gubmint" "of, by, or for the people".
Of course, we do supposedly live in a democracy, where we actually do get the "gubmint" we seem to "deserve", especially from the terrible choices we've managed to come up with recently.... Just look at the embarrassing pandering liars and fools from both parties that we've chosen to elect...? Maybe, all of this corruption is just a truer reflection of what we've really become these days....than what we would want our kids to see?
