So the largest city in India builds a metro-rapid transit and, guess what, it is standard gauge, OCS at 25kv AC. Who would have thunk it? Top speed low by BART standards at 50mph.
Still along with Delhi metro built to standard gauge that means no off the shelf 5'6" metro type rolling stock available to BART. I guess the epiphany of the Bechtels was not appreciated in India.
5'6" BART is as much of a museum op as 3'6" cable cars. But if we are going to blow anothe $100bil on its delusions of grandeur, let's build BART its own manufacturing facility. If Siemens in Sac goes titsup they could take that building over. And then would just HAVE to extend bechtel gauge to Sac.
