Didn't say I was for or against ramp meters. Info from WSDOT and an large number of news releases issued on the matter. Local media coverage including interviews of WSDOT and city of Spokane experts. WSDOT has repeatedly stated in all of this that ramp meters are being added for safety only and will not add to capacity and that they have no intention of adding capacity. Currently only one ramp meter is in use with 8 more slated for next year. Current meter is only in service part of the time. The new meter has been a source of rear end collisions and was installed at a poorly designed ramp that has a history of collisions due to a variety of reasons (not the least of which is it is a blind ramp.) Spokane announced today that they will NOT add a light rail system.
