I assure you my PG&E electricity is not cheap. And at a time when the entrenched elite and nervous nellies are screaming for converting all fossil to electric yesterday it would seem to this civilian that mothballing such a generating station to be the prudent way to go. Not demolition.
To my mind the real problem here is transmission lines and are they adequate to carry all that juice and protected against extremes of weather? Spending all the money necessary to secure them is way more important than base tunnels to Palmdale, more 5'6" or water project tunnels.
If we start experiencing 3rd world blackouts for days due to PG&E's being upset about liabilities there will be some very unhappy residents. And I mean the kind of discontent the Party hacks are going to hear about until they do something radical.
