It's a good question . The answer says a lot about railroad car movements. For example if you had a carload and it had to travel say 10 miles between Oakland and Martinez it would travel Oakland to Roseville and back to Martinez.Maybe an extra 190 miles to travel just 10 miles to get spotted. Locals and road switching are rare.Short hauls will disappear with PSR.
