As others have said, it comes down to systemic failure to adequately train crew persons. Do you just have someone make one lone trip at the controls in that direction, then throw the reverser and say good luck? At minimum, the crew should have been trained with multiple round trips, including going through the junction and onto the BNSF main, for several weeks before the line opened.
