Think of it as an opportunity. Hire the contractors Disney uses and some elephant trains to run a continuous loop from SMART to the ferry. Or some of those motorized cable cars. Make it fun, at least.

That said, yes, SMART should have gone to the terminal's doorstep. Unfortunately, the part from the current end of the line to the terminal would have cost more than the part from downtown SR to the spot they end now - nearly all on structure.

The way to fix it, as described in an opinion piece I saw a long time ago about LA (specifically, LAX to key points) transit, is to contract the whole thing out to Disney. Let them dress it up and hire & manage the staff. Make it fun instead of a chore.
