You are referring to the FTA/FTB set that EMD cosmetically restored for their 50th anniversary in 1989. Following their display at EMD's open house, they were sent on tour (including visiting CSRM).

The units are green and yellow, not brown.

Both units were purchased by Southern Railway. The A unit was the lead unit of four-unit demonstrator set 103; the B unit was a regular production unit and not part of the demonstrator set (Southern eventually converted it to a "Heater Car"). The A unit was donated (as Southern 6100) to the Museum of Transportation in Missouri in 1961. The B unit was donated to the Virginia Transportation Museum (that's probably not the correct name; someone can look it up) in 1989. Both are currently at the Museum of Transportation, located west of Kirkwood, Missouri .

The units are cosmetically restored only, and not operational.
