Upon searching the Engineering Department's archives, we all determined that the CORRECT original main color for the 1939 FT Demonstrator was one of the many versions of Dupont "Pullman Green". Thus, the dark green color used by the Great Northern Rwy, was chosen as the best "modern era" match to the original lacquer "Pullman Green", and two 55 gallon drums of Imron paint were ordered from Dupont. The "Dulux Gold" stripes & lettering had to be custom mixed in the Dupont Research Lab, in Fort Madison, Iowa, and a pick-up truck delivered the 30 gallon drum, only a few days prior to the open house. The "Dulux Gold" was still tacky on the B Unit, when switched onto the display site, behind the A Unit, early on the morning of the open house (Oct 1989?).
