BOB2 and I batted this back and forth a few months ago. The proposed Daylight restoration had something like 40 intermediate stops along the way and took 12 hours end-to-end, which to me seems a little too much like an all-stops local service. BOB2's point, IIRC, was that end-to-end traffic was not what this was about, that the intermediate stops are what will generate boardings.
I see BOB2's point, but I still think that making a stop at every town along the way is excessive. OTOH, the late-era SP Daylight made only 7 intermediate stops, still catering at least somewhat to longer distance travel. There has to be a happy medium between 7 and 40. What is it?
