I may have pointed it out before in one way or another, but "fast enough" (which usually is competing against other ground transportation) and frequent (waiting time is the real killer) beats blazing fast and long waits any day. The personal vehicle is that in the limit - always available, so zero waiting time, and direct to the destination so there's no waiting time for transfers and stops, so it doesn't have to be blazing fast to win the race with public transportation.
