BTW, don't get me wrong. I welcome Branson/Virgin's involvement - they might have enough money to make this railroad actually happen in some form. Though with diesels I don't see it making money without the connection to Palmdale (Metrolink) as well, or possibly some form of using Cajon, for one-seat access to the LA Basin, rather than requiring a drive to VV to get on the train. The HSR would have been fast enough to be fun and interesting and significantly better than spending several more hours on the usually jammed freeway. A faster-than-average Amtrak-style (Brightline) train, perhaps not so much. Viability of the latter remains to be demonstrated.
