My job requires driving all over the Bay Area and parts of Northern California. I've never seen LESS cars in storage. I've noticed UP cutting the number of Geeps on locals to the bare minimum. UP's East Oakland yard has never been this empty. I frequently see two dozen cars as the average. When the Great Recession was at its peak a decade ago, there were cars of all types in storage including long strings of centerbeams and autoracks, which historically haven't been stored in large numbers.

And then there's all the stored LPG tankers on the NWP and CFNR.
