No, the current manager was NOT an "SP guy himself". He was a D&RGW "guy" out of the Denver Pool, and stayed there even after the SP took over the D&RGW, which was eventually merged into the Union Pacific. He has no affinity for any SP locomotive, steam or otherwise.

Plus, every thing Mike Pechner posted about the proposal to bring 4449 down to Ogden, over any number of routes, is true.
