Steve...to answer your question...the only part of the AERC that is owned (rather than leased) is the former BN segment...so far as I know the OPR is the largest PRIVATELY OWNED (not leased, part of a "shortline family", publicly owned or a side operation in conjunction with an industrial operation) shortline in the state of Oregon.

The OPR was organized solely as a stand alone RAILROAD from the beginning. I am open to correction if someone has better information.
