haven't tried to load the app on my phone, but my unscientific judgement as a frequent rider is they are a little quieter by virtue of the plug rather than pocket doors. It is also the case that after 45+ yrs. of a noisier wheel profile, BART is slowly moving to a better design both with all of the new cars and as wheels come due, regrinding or replacing the tires on the existing fleet. That said, I carry earplugs for every trip.
