The problem with the Starlight is that it runs only once a day. If you miss your train you are stuck for a day before your next chance to ride.
BOB2 - when you've done studies of train service did you see a jump in ridership if there are multiple options of when to ride? Rotten service equals rotten ridership. Do you think people would depend on air travel if there was only one flight a day? Look at Caltrain, SP never would have dreamed it would be as popular as it is today. But there is a lot more trains running so that it's no big deal if you miss one. Another is only a half hour away.
Why does the government think busses are an acceptable substitute to train travel? Have these people ever taken a bus? Have they ever done a real comparison between bus and train travel? The bus idea isn't just the Trump administrations fault. It seems like it doesn't matter who's in power, Washington's solution to lack of train service is always go to bus.
