One would think the C&TS would entertain the possibility of acquiring the ROW to Alamosa. It was dual gauge. The line is flat and tangent but Alamosa is the regional center.
I dunno if the C&TS will in time have to confront fire problems with coal-burners like the D&S.
Here's an unrelated question but has interested me for a long time: how does the height of a typical Rio Grande ng locomotive, say a K-36 or K-37, compare to the height of an NdeM HR-01 articulated? You have to wonder if the Rio Grande ever considered ng articulateds as the K-36's are chronologically close to the HR-01's and both from Alco IIRC.
The first batch of HR-01's had the Elesco feedwater heater and resembled the Rio Grande standard gauge articulateds IHMO.
