Correct. And they are making more money (according to them) not hauling freight. The goverment over regulated railroads to the point some went bankrupt.Along came the Staggers act. and the railroads now fully take advantage of a deregulated marketplace.There is no common carrier obligation to haul anything. Wall st. greed at it's best. Once they start selling property theres no going back.
I think the impact of PSR is going to change railroading as much as anything i have seen in my lifetime including steam to diesels, cabooses, branch lines, five men crews and the mega mergers.
