Considering how many large pieces of the Rock Island
not only survived, but thrived after liquidation,
that's not a very good example.
Also, considering how many very healthy regionals and
shortlines emerged from the ashes of IC Industries
using the ICG as a piggy bank for decades, it is kind
of obvious that some rash, short-sighted decisions were
made back then. Some were blatantly obvious even at the
time.
