I had many phone calls along these lines in my 13+ years in trucking operations. You just have to let the guys vent and roll along with it. Sometimes when they're mad as hell you just have to laugh at the situation that's caused it and it adds a lot of levity to the situation.

Of course there were also guys that would say I was a POS for making them work on a work day, or come unglued because they got a load to Ogden rather than Salt Lake. I don't really miss that world
