I remember SP 2472 was restored and rescued as a "Project" after San Mateo Farigrounds decided to move. I remember Margaret Monroe (such a fine lady) and Carl Maggiani working on what would become Golden Gate Railroad Museum.
Neil Vodden was also key in the restoration. I'm forgetting many names, he is gone now, also gone recently is a famous SP historian and writer.
I don't ever recall 2472 being moved for storage to Larkspur. The line was being shut down at the time because of one of the tunnels at the NWP was being shut down. Who is Richard? I'm sure you might be confusing this said 2472 with some other steam engine... But I might be wrong.
