2472 was never on the NWP, ever, period.

Neil Vodden was a nice guy, and was involved in the project in later years, but was by no means, "key" in the restoration of 2472.

There were others who arrived once the work was done, proclaimed their expertise, and set about pushing folks out of the way so they might secure a spot on the locomotive crew.
