I recall seeing 2472 there in Larkspur. As I recall there was a locomotive repair shop in Larkspur that also did private varnish rebuilds for Amtrak fans.

I think what's confusing people is that Larkspur back then was about a mile and a half away from the tunnel-quarry area where 2472 was stored. Really that area is not Larkspur. More of a no-name area. It was right next to a brick kiln you can see from the freeway too. I remember it being there like it was yesterday. Hard to believe how much that area has changed and that that bucket of rust is now running again in Niles Canyon or wherever it is.

Long live the 2472! Maybe they will bring her back to Larkspur for an excursion train?
