As for the suggestion that passengers be bused from Ontario to Bakersfield - no. I've driven that route (from Riverside) several times recently. You're basically looking at a 4+ hour bus ride. I could see it happening only if #1 was trapped near there for some reason and had a lot of transfers on board, and also was getting buses for the rest of the passengers. The Starlight used to be routinely late anyway, so breaking the recent string of on-time performance for a good reason is OK; just, let's not make it a habit.
