"Santa Fe railroad photographers" implies those professional photographers who were employed by the railroad. An earlier post mentions Mike Martin, a great, LA-based PR representative for Santa Fe. He was also a terrific company photographer.
But many of the "official" photographs in Cajon were taken by the late Don Erb and R. Collins Bradley, staff photographers employed by the railway. After his retirement, Erb was occasionally hired by Martin and the ATSF for "official" shoots in Cajon and elsewhere, well into the 1980s. Collins Bradley moved to Northern California after his retirement but stayed a member of the LA Press Photographers Association until his death (in the late 80s as I recall).
Don Erb once told me that one of the official duties of ATSF company photographers was to hang out at LAUPT to shoot shots of celebrities arriving and departing on the "Super Chief."
