Around 5:30 this morning, a person driving a brand new pick-up truck struck the warning device on Taft Street in the City of Orange, CA on the Metrolink Olive Sub. He completely took our the most south west warning device, crossing arm, and crossbuck. The truck was totally destroyed and the driver survived, although bloodied and cut. Metrolink maintainers were on scene as well as Orange PD. It did not appear this event was on the Metrolink web site yet. Rail traffic will be affected for an hour or two on the Metrolink Inland Empire Orange County line. With sunrise a few minutes away, I will try to return and get some photos. They may not be posted until this evening.
Richard Elgenson, out.

This incident should keep at least one American auto worker on the job.
