HSR and Techachapi Loop

I have been wondering how close the proposed HSR route thru the Tehachapis would come to the famous Loop. One EIR style document I found online described the Antelope Vally route alignment as "contrasting" with the "historic" rail line for 12 miles.

Anyone out there who knows more precisely where this line would go? Do the freight roads have any plans for upgrading the Loop?

My gut feeling is that it might prove better in the long run to make a clean break with the past and go with the Grapevine alignment.
