Thanks to Desert Don for the link, but I had already read that one.

I guess I have gone flinty in my old age, but I wasn't too impressed with their arguments. IMHO when you are competing with airlines 10 minutes is significant. I assume they will have to stop in Palmdale.

I suggest there may be eventual buyer's remorse with the Tehachapi routing. In this case the road less taken may prove to be the best one for the 21st century. Ten minutes faster could be very helpful if there is trouble in the urban areas. Watch out for litigious nouveaux-riches on the Peninsula. They are already @#$%&.
