If I read the HSR official prospectus correctly their consultants could only find one alignment thru the Grapevine which they considered acceptable. I wonder if it is the same route you mention.

On the face of it it doesn't appear that the Tehachapi is that much easier than the Grapevine. The whole project is an experiment - let's go for some big tunnels for a change. It is only money. The guvmint will just give it to some CEO's to blow on coke and hookers any way.

Sorry if I sound too cynical - I just hope the apparatchiks get the HSR right. It would be a shame to mess up an idea that really has potential. Just one man's opinion - I kinda doubt that Quentin Kopp logs on to the site to find his plan is being questioned.
