The 244 was originally intended to go on its own wheels, but Morgan could not pull the right strings to get people at the UP to ignore the plain bearing issue and it did indeed go on a flatcar, as mentioned. This delayed its movement for a while.

Morgan seemed to often be the person who did the legwork for Whipple. Whipple would be leading a deal and Morgan would be rounding up equipment and getting it moved.
