I remember the accident at Bassett shortly before it was discontinued. CQP and I cut highs school that morning and drove down there to see it. The train hit a loaded hay truck on the crossing (at the stop light on Valley) and all of the E units were all over the place. I seem to recall both the engineer and fireman were injured, the engineer took his retirement, but the fireman was left permanently disabled.
