They were included in D&H's 1978 mass sale of six-axle ALCo, EMD and GE units to dealer Diesel Supply International, who immediately leased them to Mexico. I don't recall if it was a "lease/purchase" arrangement, but none of the units were intended to be returned to the USA.
One of the C-628s, ex-D&H 605 I think, is (as of a year or so ago) in a railroad museum in Yucatan, and one of the SD45s, which was one of the three (of the four) ex-EMD demonstrators D&H bought, was reported to be retired but still mostly intact a few years ago.
