The story is about board members questioning Newsom's plan for a true HSR electrified segment Merced-Bakersfield and instead promoting an interim 125 mph diesel option. Is true HSR for a segment that requires a train change in Merced any faster or more convenient than a 125 mph one seat ride to the Bay Area? They argue that the interim diesel option could be finished faster and much cheaper, with the saved funds diverted to improving urban commuter rail corridors along the proposed route.
Not sure why BOB2 couldn't simply state this instead of his usual multi-paragraph nasty rantings, attacks on Synonymouse (he may be annoying, but he does post lots of relevant articles, unlike BOB2), braggadocio, and self-promotion.
