Just curious, but when Amtrak trains get extremely late (like this #14, currently about 12 hours late after Dunsmuir, or the occasional cross-country train like a #5 I once saw running over 2 *days* late during one of the massive Midwest blizzard or flood seasons), have there been cases where the following train runs on schedule and catches up to the late train, even passing it? It would also seem possible - maybe more so - if there's an accident that delays one of the regional trains like a San Joaquin or a Surfliner more than a couple or 3 hours. That would have to be discouraging to the riders of the late train...
