RRing used to be a great job, a lot of fun, a lot of autonomy, never dull, with long hours, and a lot of away time, but decent wages, compared to many other crappy jobs... But, it ain't been that way for a long time. All of my friends are now pretty much retired, some who came from generations of RR families, and none of them I know, would recommend it to their kids...
