A Line (Blue Line) Blues..... And, a bad day at the office at MTA...

This might be more evidence of the failure to budget time and money to train our replacements when we retired...?

A Line (Blue Line for those who were around in a more colorful era) Problems In LA

Now, we all have to remember this is Laura... And, as I've noted, at times in the past, she's the kind of former LA Times (nowadays El Segundo Advertiser) "princess" of a reporter that's always able to find the pea in her bed, even when it's not there... But, unfortunately, much of this story is quite real, revealing, and problematic on several levels for MTA.

The inspection, quality control, and "acceptance testing" issues noted are really quite unacceptable, and indicate poor internal "agency" project management and oversight. And, for the cost of this redo, and the delays, even more so...

And, all of these folks in operations kind of "going public" with an implicit (pretty explicitly "implicit") criticism of the questionable decisions by "somebody" to rush the opening of the line with so little testing is revealing, as well.

I note just a hint of sarcasm and we told you so, why didn't you listen, toward folks who decided to open the line without adequate testing, and finishing the "punch list" of fixes this project needed, before it was ready to reopen, in some of these interesting quotes by operations staff.

I note that the quality of the work done by the GL Authority has had almost none of this kind of problem with the lines they've built, and turned over to MTA for testing.... Maybe, if MTA can't properly supervise and inspect work done by their contractors, the MTA Board should consider having the GL Authority take over MTA's rail maintenance projects...?
