So many great memories like that, patching a train...

This was a great line to railfan, and I've heard from some of you folks, that it was a fun and challenging piece of railroad to run a train over, it's too bad....

It's hard to believe the amount of corporate carnage that's been inflicted to some of our national rail network over the last 31 years. Some consolidation was good, and some was inevitable, but then our regulators decided to ignore very real anti-trust impacts altogether, and allow these RR mega mergers.

Another painful reminder of what a huge mistake for all concerned (many customers, employees, many of the communities affected, many of the short lines, many single carrier ports, consumers, and the public good), except, of course, for the senior management and stockholders, who were given an oligopolistic rate of non-competitive market returns, by allowing the SP to be bought up by the UP.
