> Espee made several improvements to speed up train traffic. First, they installed a longer turnout in both Shed 10 and Switch 9. Secondly, they made several realignments. Their is a transition from the #2 track bridge to the #1 track. The track swings back to the #2 track for tunnel #37. It uses the #2 track for tunnels #36 and #35. Just east of the new UP installed signal bridge at Yuba Pass, it transitions back to the #1 track all the way to Switch 9.
Track speed between Switch 9 and Shed 10 was not changed. The realignments had more to do with moving the operating track away from all the rock and snow falls on the north side of the ridge.
