Surviving McGiffert Loaders

There are six known and maybe a seventh surviving McGiffert loaders.

- 2 at Collier Logging Museum near Chiloquin, Oregon.
- 2 at Southern Forest Heritage Museum in Long Leaf, Louisiana
- 1 at Lake Superior Railroad Museum, Duluth, Minnesota
- 1 resting upside down and mostly buried in a lakebed in British Columbia
- The possible seventh was reported to have survived at El Salto, Durango, Mexico, as late as 1999 and may still be there.

The machine in Duluth might appear in the video starting this thread, Clyde built it for Weed/Long Bell and it worked its entire life for that company. Near the end of rail operations Long-Bell sent the machine to McCloud to load logs they bought off the Hearth Estate along the McCloud River, it sat in McCloud for years after that job was done until Long-Bell successor International Paper donated it to the museum.
