Amtrak P's ... wonder if that's why, on the San Joaquin I rode a couple of weeks ago, the power on the car would completely die every 5-10 minutes, then come back on in a minute or 2 (first lights, then a minute or so later the HVAC). When I got off at Fresno, noticed the power was a GE, not one of the California F59's. Of course, same type engine was pulling going home, without the problems. Could have been the car of course. After a while it became quite the joke: how long will the lights stay on this time? We did keep moving, so whatever the problem was it constantly fixed itself rather than requiring some major action on the crew's part.

Another thing on that trip - we missed a stop! Don't think it was the crew's fault - dispatcher had us on the wrong track, probably due to all the freights we were meeting. Interesting looks on the people at the platform on the other track as we blew by at 70 or so! Stopped a mile or so later, backed through a crossover and up the other main to reach the platform.
