Wait a sec, OPRRMS. You're trying to tell me the Amtrak engineer in Florida failed to stop at the red because it was nobody's fault? The guy is qualified on the route. He knows where the signals are and where to apply brakes. And aren't Amfleets and such equipped with electro-pneumatic brakes that would make stopping more certain?

In other words, failure by an engineer qualified on the route to stop at a red, assuming he had a yellow at the previous signal, is indication of something really, really out of whack. He's asleep, texting, drunk, sick, whatever. That's got to be a given. Just having a bad day doesn't cut it.
