and fairly consistent with figures for the NYC subway. BUT,these ## do not, I believe, factor in the huge Fed/CA state etc funding for the new cars, nor the costs of building the platinum/gold plated extension to Berryessa which might open a few years late in Q2 of 2020.
And, when contemplating that extension, the announced fares aren't even the same NB and SB if one uses VTA surface feeders.
Asa further example of "unfair fares" contemplate WMATA/Metro. Not only has WMATA slowly abandoned local feeder buses (thus forcing riders to pay separate faes to various county/municipality agencies), but for years has surcharged rush users. Whom does this cheat the most?--the service sector workers who have no schedule options and are not given "transit usage" perks the way much higher wage workers are both there and in the Bay Area.
For "extra credit" think about why raising the subway fare in NYC was always considered suicidal for the mayor.
