Hate speech does exist in America (and elsewhere in the world). One evening I was walking home from work and was startled to hear a motorist yell a racial slur at an African American pedestrian. Horrified, I apologized to him for the slur made by the motorist.

A year or two later, a guy posts anti-Jewish commentary Gab and other social media websites. Then, he walks into a Pittsburgh synagogue, yells "All Jews must die" and murders 11 congregants.

Both are examples of hate speech. Many, many more examples can be cited.
